For the past 50 years, New Mexicans have slowly been shut out of some sections of the streams and rivers that are rightfully theirs to recreate on. In 2015, Governor Susana Martinez and a wealthy donor made this closing off official with the passing of the Stream Access Bill.
Prior law stated that the streams and rivers of New Mexico were yours to fish and float in. But with the signing of the Steam Access Bill into law, Governor Martinez officially closed some sections of the public waters you should be able to recreate in.
Our governor should have protected our New Mexican traditions to fish and recreate on the water that belongs to all of us. Instead, she took away your ability to move freely throughout our waterways.
We are dedicated to protecting your right to fish and recreate, join us.
